Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Wednesday September 17, 2014 Galatians 3:12–13, Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), I am a one thing at a time kind of person. I like to set goals, achieve them, and then move on to the next thing. I get frustrated when things start piling up or if I am reminded of everything I have to do when I finish what I am currently working on. This works well when preparing Bible studies, playing golf, or building furniture; all things that I like to do. The beauty of salvation through faith is; once you are a born again Christian you can then move on in your new life serving the Lord. Those who base their salvation on works have a big problem though. The problem is God does not base your salvation on what you are able to do, but what Christ has accomplished upon the cross. The curse of the law is the necessity of living your life perfectly . This is like working on a project knowing that you need to be precise in what you are doing with no mistakes. After you would complete this project you would need to go on the next, with a life time of others waiting for you. Then, just when you thought that you were gaining ground, a flaw would be found in the first which you would need to correct and very soon you would realize you have accomplished nothing of any significance. I get frustrated just thinking about such a scenario and truly this would be a curse for me. I thank Christ that He bore the curse for me, suffered for my sins, and His work set me free from mine. It was in my futile attempts at keeping the law that I now realize what a great gift grace is. Psalm 119:133, Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me
