Pastor Rons Daily Devotional: If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION Confession reveals the sin within your heart. When you acknowledge the ugliness of your sin, it can be embarrassing and sometimes painful. It is never easy to look deep into the dark places of your life, to become vulnerable and open yourself to rebuke. But confession is a necessary part of knowing God, of receiving forgiveness and freedom from sin, of identifying yourself as a follower of Jesus Christ. God’s supply of forgiveness far exceeds what your sins demand. No matter how many sins you confess or how often you confess them, God promises to forgive you whenever you ask. ✞ ✞ ✞ (Ludwig Wittgenstein) A confession has to be part of your new life. (French Proverb) A sin confessed is half forgiven. (Sanskrit Proverb) A sin that is confessed is less heavy to bear. (English Proverb) Confession is the first step to repentance. (Traditional Proverb) Confess you were wrong yesterday; it will show you are wise today. TODAY’S PLAN: What sins do you need to confess to God (or someone else) today so that you can be forgiven? PRAYER: Gracious Father, the Lord God of Israel and God of all nations and peoples, you are the only God in heaven above or the earth below. I stand before you with all my heart and walk with you with all of my spirit. I call upon and bless your name in the morning when I rise and in the evening when I sleep, and all the day when your creation fills all of senses. Inspire me to remember you this day; when I see and hear the thousand miracles of your creation, let me see them with new and fresh eyes and hear them with fresh ears, recalling that you have made them, and no other. Tug at my heart to be reminded that I live in your presence among the common miracles I take for granted. Through the matchless name of Jesus Christ I pray, amen.
