Pastor Rons Daily Devotional: Wednesday, First Week of Lent When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation, it asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so the Son of Man will be to this generation. (Luke 11:29-30) God of forgiveness we often do what we desire not, and grovel in dust of our own making – slow to raise our eyes to you. Instead, you ask us to celebrate sackcloth and ashes. You invite us to look guilt in the eye – a hard, honest stare – and proclaim the grace of Resurrection, for you are greater than sin and stronger than death. Help us to live the signs of conversion today – to replace sacrifice for sackcloth, to trade action for ashes. Let time cast the sign of prophets in hearts of flesh. May we give way to your touch and follow the freedom carved by Christ. Let us use this occasion of grace to celebrate inner strength... through the saving courage of Jesus. Amen. For Your Consideration: Even when I fail, God does not abandon me. God leads me to new beginnings. If Jesus died that I may have life, I must get on with the business of living
