Paw Justice Community Notice ! Please be careful around beaches at the moment there has been several reports of dogs getting very sick or even worse! This is a very sad story from Elizabeth Doggie parents around Browns Bay please watch your furbabies on the beach. I lost my beautiful 15 month old Jack Russell this morning. He died after eating a toxic sea slug. Were absolutely gutted. He was playing fetch one minute and suddenly started vomiting. By the time I could get him to the vet, he slipped into a coma and died shortly after. It is believed that dogs have fallen victim to sea slug egg sacs. Both the slugs and sacs contain tetrodotoxin, which has been found in high concentrations on beaches in Auckland and Coromandel.
