Peace Corps 2014 ABLE Camp - Call for Counterparts and Guest Speakers! We are excited to let you know that Peace Corps Azerbaijan is currently organizing for the 6th annual ABLE camp, which will be held this summer. ABLE (Azerbaijani Boys Leadership Experience) will again this year focus on instilling the values and skills of leadership, cooperation, gender equality and fitness in young Azerbaijani men from around the country, in the hopes of strengthening their individual roles as members of their communities. For our success this year, we need your support! While Peace Corps Volunteers have and will continue to organize and manage many aspects of ABLE, our goal is to partner with and hand over responsibilities to local Azerbaijanis. We need Azerbaijani counterparts who will facilitate the camp and act as leaders and role models for our campers. Ideal counterparts for ABLE are Azerbaijani men between 19 and 40 years old with leadership experience. In past camps we have had counterparts who attended ABLE camp as youths and/or been FLEX participants. All counterparts should be available for a training session in Sheki June 6-8, and for the ABLE camp itself July 29-Aug 3. All costs will be covered by the ABLE committee fund. Additionally, we are looking for guest speakers - men of any age or background who are willing to participate with ABLE for a day and lead a session based around the program topics of their choice related to their work experience or skill set (for example, leadership, teamwork, community, fitness, gender equality, university education). Neither counterparts nor guest speakers need to have English language skills.
