Peace. My Leadership Anchorage mentor read something I wrote - TopicsExpress

Peace. My Leadership Anchorage mentor read something I wrote on-line. He emailed me and gave me some homework to do. I took a published piece and outlined it. That meant telling him the main point and any sub-points in each paragraph in the article. Now, he had already suggested I outline my pieces BEFORE I write them, which I do! So half-way through this exercise I find myself at the computer asking, What is the point of 1) using an outline, 2) writing an article from said outline and 3) doing another outline of the same article. Shouldnt it all be the same idea using different words? Thats when it hit me that he is 1) doing a Mr. Miyagi on me and 2) trying to gain an insight into my thinking pattern so he can speak in terms that I understand. Lesson: This technique is so stolen by me for usage in the community when I find myself in a leadership position again.
