Peace to everyone! Let us show our love for the Lord... May 25, 2014: Sixth Sunday of Easter Gospel: JOHN 14:15-21 Jesus said to his disciples: 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Q: Ano ang ginagawa ng nagmamahal kay Jesus? 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, Q: Ano ang hihilingin Niya sa Ama para sa mga sumusunod sa Kautusan? 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you. Q: Sino ang hihilingin Niya? Kilala ba ang Espiritu ng mundo? Bakit? 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. Q: Ano ang pangako ni Jesus? 19 In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. Q: Sino ang hindi na makakakita kay Jesus? Bakit naman makikita pa din Siya ng mga alagad? 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you. Q: Ano ang mapapagtanto ng mga alagad? 21 Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” Q: Sino daw muli ang nagmamahal kay Jesus? Ano naman ang bunga ng pagmamahal na ito? Key points/summary: sanctify Christ as Lord in hearts; ready to explain reason for hope; gentleness, reverence, clear conscience; suffer for doing good like Christ; lead to God; life in the Spirit Connection: The readings tell us how to show our love for Jesus Christ. In the Gospel, true love is expressed in keeping the commandments while in the 1st reading, Philip showed his love by his obedience when sent on a mission to Samaria. During those times, Samaria and Jerusalem were not at peace because the Jews regarded the Samaritans as unpure people. Philip succeeded because of the presence of Jesus with the Holy Spirit in him. Acceptance by the Samaritans of the Word is another way of loving Christ. In the 2nd reading, loving Christ means sanctifying Him in one’s heart thereby having hope and ready explanation to others about Him. One’s life in the Spirit is revealed in how one conducts himself. If we love Him, the Spirit of Truth will dwell in us as we become one with the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. This oneness with God will give us a life with great joy, power to bring others to God, and overcome suffering when doing good. Hibla: Live in the love of Jesus Christ. And every good thing will follow. Application: Do we love Jesus Christ? Do others see and feel that love? Is our joy and hope contagious? Responsorial Psalm: P S 66:1-3, 4-5, 6-7, 16, 20 Let all the earth cry out to God with joy. Hibla + resp Psalm: Live in the love of Christ and all the earth will cry out to God with joy.
