Peace vs. Pressure “Lord, you will grant us peace; all we have accomplished is really from you.” (Isaiah 26:12 NLT) This verse really stuck out to me this morning. One of my problems (I know, I have many) is that I like to take responsibility for the good things in my life, especially my accomplishments. I have worked hard to accomplish what I have. While our culture says it is okay to do this, this sense of accomplishment and pride is really a problem. It creates in us a sense that all good things comes from our own hard work when they really come from God. That shifts things from us and from God. And with that shift comes unneeded pressure, worry, and stress. And we will never find God’s peace in that situation. But, when we begin to understand that God is the One through whom all good things come, and we acknowledge Him, and we depend on Him, God’s peace enters our lives. Want true peace? Honor God and lean on Him.
