People need to stop acting like this isnt a very real problem. Let me tell you a story: I got pulled over several months ago on 465 for passing a marked police car. Its a long, annoying story but Im pretty sure the officer just pulled me over to scare me. Regardless, when I put the car in park, I reached into my bag to grab my ID and looked into my mirror just in time to see the cop start to pull his gun out of his holster. Long story short, he didnt give me a ticket because the only law I actually broke was going 60mph in a 55mph zone and his method for determining my speed was the fact that he was going the same speed... but I did get a lecture about remaining still and not making any sudden movements when pulled over. Now, I completely understand why police officers assume the worst in situations like that and I dont think that they are wrong to be cautious. The point Im trying to make is that people like myself who have never been pulled over before dont think about what the officer is perceiving when you make a sudden movement, because to me, preemptively grabbing my wallet so that I would have my ID ready made sense and didnt seem like a threatening motion. The officer in this video asked this man for his ID and after the man felt his back pocket and realized his wallet was still in the car, he turned to retrieve it. Should he have told the officer what he was doing? Yes, but in his defense, if I were in his shoes, I would have acted identically. And sadly, I probably wouldnt have been shot in the back two times before I even had time to react to the officer yelling at me to get out of my car, then again after exiting the car and then one more time after putting my hands up to show I didnt have a weapon.
