People often ask about how we able to make food for our 90 plus - TopicsExpress

People often ask about how we able to make food for our 90 plus students with such a small budget. (we aim for $10 all up for each meal) We use our own produce, anything our locals have dropped off from their own gardens (thanks so much Gaynor for your awesome leeks today!) as well as any point of sale produce from our local Commonsense Organics. Developing a local food network of families, community and businesses to feed ourselves is simple - and powerful. We focus our learning around creating high quality, vegetarian based protein meals that are easy on the pocket, the planet and fill tummies. Because its not just about having tummies full, its about nutrient dense foods that grow healthy little farmers. Because, we simply believe, our little farmers deserve the best. Today we made a Silverbeet, Leek, Brown Rice and Barley Bake. It has eggs, and milk added and is super dense and nourishing. Any veges could be grated and added to this. Having a supply of silverbeet in your garden and a couple of chooks is a guaranteed way of ensuring super cheap nutrition. Thanks to our mums who came and cooked today. Thanks to Commonsense for the amazing fruit! Together, we are abundant.
