Perhaps we must create the future or succumb to its whims. We can live our lives as if we are the victims of fate, or not. Of course, we encounter roadblocks that we can try to circumvent. But when this proves impossible we can change course and abandon the pursuit of something that is impossible. When we experience depression, this can signal the fact that we have succumbed to the hand of fate. But depression can also lead us into a calm, reflective place, internally, in w which we can both come to terms with present reality and do rd emulate new plans. I would rather be an actor in the world than a a classic we victim of circumstance.
