Personhood Laws. Many of you know what that term means because youve probably read that its a law that protects a baby from pregnancy termination. It removes the womans right to decide what is best for herself. Very important! Ive talked about it before but Ill say it again. Despite your stance on termination of pregnancy, Personhood laws affect other types of maternity care. A quick and basic Google search of Personhood Laws and VBACs will show you just how horrendous this law is. There are multiple stories of mothers who attempted to switch to a VBAC-friendly care provider after their care provider wanted them to have another cesarean, only to be forced to a surgical birth. How did they force them? Their care provider went to the court and the judge sided in favor of best interest of the child and the cops came and took the woman out of her house and forced her to the hospital. It is an abuse of power, lacking of evidence based care, informed consent... and all of that was legally possible because of Personhood Laws. If you believe women should have the right to seek maternity care that they deem best, please share this and help inform others about whats taking place. I hope the voters in Colorado understand what they are potentially about to implement.
