Phil Allton tells us how he prepares dead maggots and why he does it... Dead maggots can be a real match winner; they dont wriggle into the bottom silt, nor do they mask the hook point. I add a handful to cold water, then pour boiling water over the top until they stop wriggling; the cold water prevents scalding, and ensures the maggots stay plump and soft without becoming stretched. Drain them, add a measure of Marukyu SFA 400 krill powder, bag them up and stick them in the fridge until needed...simple and effective!
