The OFW, only identified as Monica, sent a message on Facebook to DZMMs Aksyon Ngayon host Kaye Dacer. Monica told Dacer that she arrived in Abu Dhabi in July of last year. However, in January of this year, she was allegedly raped by the Pakistani driver of her employer. The assault resulted in her getting pregnant. Magpi-pito na po, magse-seven months na, she said during Thursdays interview. She said the suspect already fled. Monica said her employer told her not to report the incident to authorities. The 26-year-old OFW wants to go home. Gusto ko na pong umalis dito, she said. Despite her condition, Monica said her employer still made her work. Magta-tatlong buwan na rin akong di binibigyan ng sahod. Saka nahihirapan na rin akong magtrabaho kaya gusto kong umalis pero ayaw naman nila, she said. Monica said she has yet to tell her family back home about her condition. Hindi po nila alam, she said. Asked for comment by Aksyon Ngayon, Deputy Administrator Josefino Torres of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) promised to coordinate with the embassy to help rescue the OFW. Ipapatawag ko po ang kanyang Philippine recruitment agency para i-produce ang OFW sa ating embassy sa Abu Dhabi, he said. He added that once the OFW is back home but is unable to return to her family, the OWWA halfway house is willing to take her in.
