Plattsburg High School Daily Announcements Monday, March 3rd, 2014 Please remember to turn in your A+ logs for February. Boys golf practice will be in Mr. Stayton’s room today at 3:45. There will be an After Prom meeting in the Middle School library today, March 3rd, at 7:00 pm for the parents of the Junior class. In order to raise money for the Back Pack Buddies program the school is hosting the 2nd annual Dogdeball tournament. The registrations are due by Friday, April 25th. Please see the attachment or pick one up in the office for more information. A big CONGRATULATIONS to the HS and MS Science Olympiad teams that qualified to move on to state completion by both placing fourth in regional competition. The High School team will be heading to state with the following schools from our region #1 Pembroke Hill #2 Staley #3 Platte County #4 PLATTSBURG… beating out #5 North Kansas City and 7 other schools. The HS team placed in 17 out of 25 events. Congratulations to EVERYONE for advancing to State on April 12th!!! Can’t fit it in your schedule? Join art club. First meeting this Friday during advisory in the art room. We will discuss the following: sidewalk art, window painting, school mural, boat and kite making, wheel thrown pots, end of the year arty party, and any other general artistic inquiries. All are welcome but you must love art. See Wenzel for any questions. There will be a meeting tomorrow, March 4th during advisory in Mrs. Ryczek’s room. Helping with senior class video. Please wish the following students good luck this weekend as the art exhibition scheduled for last weekend has been rescheduled for this coming Sunday. They have artwork entered in The Regional High School Art Exhibition at the Albrecht-Kemper in St. Joseph: Connor Parsons, Shelly McLeod, Taylor Bloomer, Emily Cummings and Stormie Smith. The artwork will be displayed March 2nd- April 6th. This Sunday is the awards presentation at 2pm. There will be a prom committee meeting in Mrs. Adam’s room Wednesday, March 5th at 3:35. The Plattsburg Summer Youth Baseball and Softball signups are going on now. The registration forms are in the office and the deadline is March 29th. You can turn them in to the high school office or to Mr. McMurtrey. The registration form is also attached to this email. There is also a FREE summer softball hitting clinic on March 22nd from 1-4 at the Plattsburg Middle School. There will be a pizza party following from 4-4:30. You can return the attached form to Ellis Elementary or Plattsburg High School. PROM & AFTER PROM ANNOUNCEMENT: There are 3 sign-up sheets in the office that MUST be signed if you plan on going to prom &/or after prom. You are required to sign up for the dance and the after prom events or you will not be allowed to enter. You must be eligible to go & you are able to just attend After Prom and not the dance. There is also a sign up for the Juniors who wish to receive a prom t-shirt. There is NO extra cost for the shirts, but they need to know how many to order and what sizes so stop by to sign up. Also, you must fill out a High School Dance form if you are bringing a date that does attend PHS. All of these sign-up sheets are in the office. There will be one more letter jacket order this school year. The order will need to be placed by March 14th in order to receive the jackets before the end of the school year. The school is receiving a wholesale price and there is NO mark up. You won’t find pricing this good anywhere else! Contact the middle school office for a price sheet. Notes from the Counselor: • Dual Credit Students -- The deadline for submitting some payment for Missouri Western dual credit classes is March 3. If no payment has been made by then, you will be dropped from the course! • Senior girl golfers: Missouri Women’s Golf Scholarship. Deadline is March 15th. There is information about this attached to this email. • Quad County Cattlemen’s Assoc. Scholarship apps available. Must be pursuing an education in ag or food production. Due 4/14. • Hubert Campbell Charitable Foundation – for those going into Engineering, Pre-Medical, a Health-related program, or Teacher Education Program. Due 3/24 • Willis Winn Scholarship for seniors – Must be going to a four-year college or university and remain enrolled to keep receiving scholarship. Worth a total of $10,000! Applications due to Mrs. Ogden by April 1st. They can be found online at gkccf.org/scholarships/willis-winn-scholarship-fund • The David and Wilber Spalding Scholarships are due 4/15. They will be awarded to someone going into the medical field or a liberal arts degree. They are $2,500 each! • For those Juniors who missed the ASVAB interpretation last week need to get their scores and results from Mrs. Ogden. • The current scholarship list is attached to this email. • Next ACT test is April 12. Deadline to register is March 7. actstudent.org Kindergarten Round-Up will be March 3rd from 6 – 8pm at Ellis Elementary. Screenings will be given as well as a rotation for kids to experience school as a kindergartener so please plan to stay the entire 2 hours. We will have enrollment packets to be completed and informative presentations for the parents while the kids are busy. Please bring your student’s birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency (utility bill, driver’s license, etc). *Student must be 5 years old on or before July 31, 2014. We will make copies of any originals. Flyers are being sent home. Please RSVP. If you have any questions, call the office at 539-2187 or e-mail [email protected]. Please plan to stay the full 2 hours. Reminders: *Freshmen who have not paid class dues need to bring in their $20 before the end of this school year to prevent a $5 increase. *The next community blood drive will be on May 1st. *March 14th is the next deadline for Letterman Jacket orders. *Wednesdays are Late Start days with school starting at 9:18. Students should not arrive prior to 9:00am on Wednesdays. * The new school website is now up and running at ccr3.k12.mo.us. If you had this website bookmarked before it may not work.
