Please read! As many of you know, I purchased a house in March that was to be built and finished in November this year. Many of you dont know, I lost my job due to it relocating to the west coast in July. I was blessed to have found another job and remain in the social work field working with troubled youth. I was even more blessed to find out I was expecting my first child! Unfortunately, the pay at my new job was lower than that of my previous. Understandably, I was dropped by my lender, as I was no longer making enough money to qualify for the loan. It was a hard blow, but I completely understood why. Now comes the most disappointing part of it all, the builder, Miller and Smith, is refusing to return my down payment, stating that it was my own fault for having a change in jobs. While they may legally be able to keep my money, it is incredible immoral and disheartening, especially knowing the house is not even built yet. It disgusts me that a company would do something that is just so clearly wrong. Please, when buying a home, consider what this company has done to me and my future family. While I am blessed beyond belief and will stand strong, I have to also stand for what I believe is moral and just. As a social worker I am constantly standing up for those that are suffering through hard times and I will surely stand up and rise above my hard times. Please share this with all your friends and loved ones so they are aware of what could happen and are aware of what this company is capable of doing to honest and hard working people like me.
