Please read and share As a lot of you may be aware we had to step in to help a dog that had been imported from Cyprus a few weeks ago after he was at risk due to being homed in the totally wrong home and with no rehabilitation at all...This entire male large breed dog went from being a street dog to being placed in a home with dogs and children in just three short weeks and problems quickly arose, after the third day of trying to get help from the rescue that imported him a incident arose with the child in the house and the dog needed removing immediately so he came into our care. Without going into too much details we eventually got contacted by the rescue but felt the safest and best option for this dog was to remain in our care so we refused to hand him back and Zues has now been in our care 4 weeks and is doing fantastic. On a routine vet visit yesterday questions about Zues were asked and his paperwork was requested and a lot of discrepancies were found which resulted in Zues being seized by vet and the local Animal Health and Welfare Inspector was called.who agreed the paperwork had questionable content. We were given two choices one was to put him to sleep there and then and the other was to agree to fund the costs needed to get him through quarantine legally in this country. We have grown to love this big soft gentle lad and hes not done anything wrong apart from being protective around food which is totally understandable and easy to cope with if you have the experience and wed never put a young healthy dog down so we agreed to fund what ever the cost to keep him safe. Zues wasnt allowed to leave with us and had to stay in the vets until we could organize a space at a Defra approved quarantine kennel and find a Defra registered carrier to move him for us, this has taken all day paperwork needed sorting out from both ends and the phone calls and faxes have been none stop but Zues is now safe and on his way to quarantine over 200 miles away where hel remain until he fully complies with UK regulations. Please be aware the sort of people that are bringing these dogs into the UK and the fact that these dogs need special care from experienced people. Luckily all concerned in this sad story are fine but a dog nearly lost his life and PDiN has been left to find what could be as much as a £1000 to save this precious boys life... If your thinking of getting a overseas rescue dog please fully check out the rescue your using, there are some very good ones out there but as weve found out there are also some very bad ones :-( We are going to be doing a special auction for Zues to help pay this bill, details to follow. Or if anyone would like to donate towards Zues our paypal is pendledogs@gmail bank account details are Pendle Dogs in Need acc number 23624094, sort code 01-02-20 Natwest. Zues will get his happy ending wel make sure of that :-)
