Police arrests accused for opening fire on Cong workers‘Accused not my PSO’ BhatDuo out of danger: DoctorsBandipora, Nov 14, CNS: Police on Thursday arrested the Personal Security Officer of MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat for his alleged involvement in Panzigam Barzulla firing incident in which two Congress workers were wounded. Reports said that Altaf Baba, PSO of MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat allegedly opened fire on two workers of Congress leader Usman Majeed on Wednesday night. The two workers Mudasir Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Majeed and Abdul Majeed Khan son of Abdul Gani Khan were immediately referred to SKIMS where one of them have been discharged while another is treated in Urology ward for his bladder injury. Police on Thursday swung into action and arrested Altaf Baba who according to Congress leader Usman Majeed is the PSO of MLA Bandipora, the charge denied by Nizamuddin Bhat. “My two workers were fired upon by PSO of Bhat. It is political rivalry and nothing else. The accused before this incident was once arrested by police but Bhat saved him,” Majeed told CNS. Nizamuddin Bhat while talking to CNS refuted the charges and said that Altaf Baba is not his PSO. “He is associated with my escort and it is absurd to call him as my PSO. You can confirm it from Security officials,” Bhat said. Meanwhile, doctors treating the injured persons told CNS that Mudasir Ahmad Shah has bullet injury in his left groin and he is being treated in Urology ward. “ We have discharged Abdul Majeed Khan who had a minor injury in his leg while Mudasir is also out of danger,” the doctor said. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) meanwhile denied the media reports about the incident of firing, at Barzulla Bandipore, saying the incident is both mysterious and unfortunate and is being politicized by vested interests. In a statement a party spokesman said that one constable namely Altaf Baba is not the PSO of the local MLA, but was being deputed as an escort duty during the VIP travel or movement by the concerned department. He (constable) hails from the same village and has reportedly some personal disputes with the injured persons. It is the duty of the police now to ascertain facts and bring culprits book. Taking an exception to the malicious media campaign unleashed by the surrendered militant turned politician-Usman Majid-against the local MLA and serves on false, frivolous and concocted reports, the local law maker is of the view that escort and security provided to him is turned into a liablility and defamation rather than protection. He (MLA) has accordingly thought to convey to security authorities his displeasure and has also asked for withdrawl of entire security including PSO’s and house guard. The spokesman said the local MLA has taken the decision in view of his personal reputation which is more important than anything else.
