Police have launched an investigation following a stabbing in Doonside yesterday evening. Shortly before 10pm (Wednesday 10 December 2014), officers attached to Blacktown Local Area Command were called to a unit block on Power Street at Doonside after reports of a brawl at the location. Police arrived to find a 25-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen and a 38-year-old woman with minor lacerations to her face. No one else was injured during the incident. The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital. He’s now undergoing emergency surgery; however his injuries are not considered life threatening. The woman was also treated by paramedics and was taken to Blacktown Hospital for further assessment. A crime scene was established at the location and examined by specialist forensic officers. Police are continuing their investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for any witnesses, who have not yet spoken to police, to come forward.
