Police in Sheema district has started investigations into Umeme operations four days after electricity electrocuted two people to death in the area. The OC Station Sheema district police John Rutaagira yesterday told reporters that Umeme’s negligence led to the death of two people in separate incidents that occurred in the district early this week. He said that on Saturday a girl of 17 years who was not easily identified was electrocuted by electricity in Masheruka by wires which had been left on ground by thugs who were tapping Umeme power for tapping grasshoppers. On a separate incident the same evening a 1 year old girl was also electrocuted to death by electricity at Nganwa in Kabwohe town council by hanging wires which were left by Umeme workers. Rutaagira said that in all the incidents Umeme staff was informed in time but they never responded in time to save the lives of those people who died. Efforts to get a comment Umeme staff at greater Bushenyi offices were futile as they did not respond to any of our calls
