Port-of-Spain to observe its 100th year as a city Recapturing the beauty and the historic significance of Port-of-Spain, the capital city will be transformed into a cultural and educational venue, during the month of June as it celebrates its 100th year as a city. Speaking at a press conference on March 17th, held at City Hall, Mayor Alderman Raymond Tim-Kee said the Port-of-Spain Corporation through a series of events, will seek to re-enact some of the activities which took place over the past 100 years. The Mayor told the Trinidad Newsday, “The month of June will be used to showcase an educational and entertaining feast for our Burgesses and all of Trinidad and Tobago.” The Mayor said with the advent of attainment of the 100th-year, it is his determination to recapture the beauty and the historic significance of the Capital City and he called on citizens who live and work in Port-of-Spain to come out and help support the events and create the Capital City that all can be proud of for another century and beyond.
