Positivity/Thankfulness Challenge - Day 2 1) A book Im reading to help me prepare for a class Ill be teaching in a couple of weeks makes an interesting distinction between hell and heaven: No authentic relationships exist in hell... No joy, no celebration, no laughter... Loneliness and isolation rule peoples lives. Heaven, on the other hand, includes community and connection. We are united... Im so grateful for my community of faith - for the glimpse of heaven that includes acceptance, connection, and a sense of belonging. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:18) 2) Im thankful for the gift of music. My taste in music is very eclectic - classical, hymns, contemporary Christian, Big Band, some Country... But thats the beauty of music; no matter the mood, the occasion, or the culture, music just makes the experience better. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things... (Psalm 98:1) 3) Im thankful for the seasons of faith. Im not saying I enjoy the dark isolation of winter, but how else could I appreciate the new growth and promises of spring? And how easy it would be to become complacent during the relaxed pace of summer, if we didnt have the rustlings and decay of fall to remind us that winter is inevitable and we should prepare our hearts and souls to weather it with grace. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you his charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season... (2 Timothy 4:1-2)
