Post-election thoughts: We made all the history last night. A Green as an MLA (congrats again David Coon), the youngest Premier-elect in Canada (yay Brian Gallant!) and possibly the most hilarious example of how technology that is meant to speed up the process can actually bog it down more than any previous process. Basically, CBC and CTV did a pretty excellent job of asking the questions we were all thinking, and the analysts raised some really good points regarding the oddities of voter turnouts and the efficiencies of the voting this time around. I wouldnt be surprised if some recounts were demanded, but overall the outcome is fairly established. I know youre all tired of the Blue/Red back-and-forth. I know sometimes it feels like the lesser of two evils. I know its frustrating as a voter to feel like no one aligns with you perfectly. The reality is, that it would be impossible to align with everyone perfectly. Just have a casual discussion with a friend about a hot-topic issue, and you will see that even friends dont agree on some basic programs. The reality is, anything that you actually LIKE about where you live, has been impacted by these people, but I never hear people thanking them for it. I know it is hard to accept that politicians are people too, but trust me when I say that they give up so many things to be able to fight for you as a resident of NB. Know that, for the most part, these men and women, of ALL political stripes, are fighting for what they believe to be the best for their constituents. It may not always be what you consider best for you personally. Thems the breaks *Thanks, Kris Jardine*. Welcome to a democracy. In short, congrats to all the elected, good job to all the others, and lets see what we can drum up for the next 4 years!
