Presidency University Literary Society presents its 1st ever Lit Fest Incarnadine 2014. 2014 marks 450 years of arguably the best poet and playwright the world has ever produced, William Shakespeare. To commemorate the 450th birth anniversary of this sui generis bard, the theme of the Lit Fest will be Shakespeare and his times. EVENTS: 1) Creative Writing: Stepping outside the conventional forms of Literature and creating something new from the fresh young minds of budding poets and writers. 2) One Act Play: Maybe the most apt way of paying tribute to the Bard of Avon. The skit competition will aim to inculcate the rare character of Elizabethan theatre. 3) Literary Quiz: When the only way to prove that you are a literary enthusiast is to come up with the right answer for everything. 4) 3 minutes to fame: Talent comes in myriad forms and in various shapes and sizes and we are willing to embrace them all. 5) Poster Making We want brilliance, creativity, and colour. So bring out your brushes and get busy! 6) Literary Debate Stretching the boundaries of conventional debating with topics that will require not only powerful oratory skills but also knowledge of the Renaissance, in keeping with our theme. 7) Face Painting: Paint your heart out. On a face! Prizes go to the most innovative face in town! 8) Treasure Hunt Our main attraction comes in the form of this thrilling goose chase where only thinking on your feet will keep you alive in the hunt for the coveted prize; with clues especially designed to lead only the worthy to the prize. 9) Global Shakespeares Conference: An international conference on 16th and 17th December commemorating 450 years of the Bard. The keynote speaker is Professor Jyotsna Singh, Michigan State University. Plenary Speakers are: Professor ShormisthaPanja, Delhi University; Professor SukantaChaudhuri; Professor Emeritus,Jadavpur University; and Professor SwapanChakravorty, Jadavpur University. There will also be student papers and panels.
