President commends Koboko youth for saving culture President Yoweri Museveni has praised the youth of Koboko district for embracing the culture of saving and realizing that private sector offers more employment opportunities than the government. That is what NRM has been saying.government jobs are limited. There are more jobs in the private sector than the government,” he pointed out. The President made the remarks yesterday during the launching of the late Francis Ayume Memorial Action savings and Credit Cooperative Society (SACCO) at St. Charles Lwanga College in Koboko district. The SACCO that was formed in rememberance of Late Francis Ayume was registered in 2013 and has 1014 members from West Nile sub-region and South Sudan. It aims at encouraging the youth to develop a culture of saving and secure loans that will empower them economically. President Museveni who was visibly impressed by the action taken by the youth added that the move was the meaning of modernization in the areas of agriculture, Industry, services, and ICT. “I am very happy to hear what this children are saying, that is the way forward,” he stressed. President Museveni was equally glad to learn that the people of the area are now growing fruits and pledged to provide them with a fruit processing plant. The President also asked the people of Koboko to follow the footsteps of one prominent fish farmer Mr. Charles Yangu of Nyangilia village near Koboko Town Council who generates a lot of income from fish farming. President Museveni also thanked the people of Koboko district in particular and West Nile Region in general, for appreciating the efforts of NRM government to bring them back home from exile. He said NRM was totally opposed to sectarianism that is why it encouraged all people living in exile to return home as no harm would be done to them like was the case with the former politically bankrupt regimes. The President further pledged to ensure the payment of ex- soldiers from the West Nile Sub-Region and Uganda in general. The Minister of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs Hon Baba urged members of the SACCO to live up to the integrity of the late Ayume by being honest in their transactions. The Minister of State for Northern Uganda Hon. Rebecca Otengo, asked the people of West Nile Region to jealously guard the peace now enjoyed not only in the area but throughout the country. The area MP Hon. Awongo hailed President Museveni for all the development programs government has initiated for the people of Koboko district. The Youth MP Northern who is also the brain child of the SACCO Hon. Evelyn Anite assured President Museveni that their society is doing very well.
