Press Statement ARRIVAL OF THE SADC PARLIAMENTARY FORUM ELECTION OBSERVATION MISSION TO OBSERVE THE 2014 PRESIDENTIAL AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS IN NAMIBIA The SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) announces the arrival of its 40-member Mission to observe the 28 November 2014 Presidential and National Assembly Elections in the Republic of Namibia. The arrival of the delegation is at the invitation of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN). This is the 34 th such Mission to be deployed to a SADC Member State since 1999 when SADC PF started observing elections. In the case of Namibia, this is the fourth time SADC PF is observing elections in the country, having deployed similar missions in 1999, 2004 and 2009. The Mission’s Head Quarters will be at Windhoek Country Club in Windhoek. The Mission Leader is Honourable Advocate Jacob Francis Mudenda, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe and the Deputy Mission Leader is Hon. Joseph Njobvuyalema, a Member of Parliament from Malawi, who is also the Deputy President of SADC Parliamentary Forum. The Mission comprises Parliamentarians from Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Secretary General of SADC PF, Dr. Esau Chiviya, Parliamentary and SADC PF Secretariat Staff are also part of the Mission. The Mission will be in the country from 18 November to 02 December 2014 and will commence its business with an Official Opening Session on Wednesday 10 November from 09:00 to 10:00. All Members of the Media are invited to this Official Opening Session.
