Press release Analysis of Asset Comparison of Re-Contesting MLAs Contesting in the Rajasthan 2013 Assembly Elections Rajasthan Election Watch (REW) and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of candidates from all the major political parties and outgoing Independent MLAs contesting in the Rajasthan State Assembly Elections. A total of 2087 candidates filed affidavits with the ECI among whom REW and ADR have analysed 733 candidates. (English and Hindi versions of the detailed reports are attached with this e-mail) Rajasthan Election Watch (REW) and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analyzed 163 outgoing MLAs who are contesting again in the 2013 Rajasthan Assembly Elections. Summary of asset comparison of re-contesting MLAs Average Assets in 2008 Elections: The average asset of these 163 re-contesting MLAs fielded by various parties including indpendents in 2008 was Rs 1.86 Crores. Average Assets in 2013 Elections: The average asset of these 163 re-contesting MLAs in 2013 is Rs 4.45 Crore. Average Asset growth in 5 years (2008-2013): The average asset growth for these 163 re-contesting MLAs, between the Rajasthan Assembly Elections of 2008 and 2013 is Rs 2.58 Crores. Percentage growth in 5 years (2008-2013): Average percentage growth in assets for these 163 re-contesting MLAs is 139%. · Highest growth In Assets in 5 years (2008-2013): Anjna Udailal of INC from Nimbahera constituency has declared maximum increase in assets with an increase of Rs 29.35 Crore i.e from Rs 36.19 Crores in 2008 to Rs. 65.55 Crores in 2013 (LIC policy value of Rs.14.81 Lakhs declared in 2008 has not been considered). Assets of Ashok Parnami of BJP from Adarsh Nagar constituency has increased by Rs 22.95 Crores, from Rs 3.66 Crores in 2008 to Rs 26.61 Crores in 2013. Assets of Pramod Bhaya of INC from Anta constituency have risen by Rs 22.16 Crores, from Rs 5.36 Crores in 2008 to Rs 27.53 Crores in 2013 (LIC policy value of Rs.18.70 Lakhs declared In 2008 has not been considered and rupee value of two vehicles are also not provided). Asset decrease in 5 years (2008-2013): 2 MLAs have reported decrease in assets in 2013 as compared to their assets in 2008.
