Pretending, ignoring, avoidance, denial, hiding,covering up, are never the way to handle injustice. When deep wounds are inflicted, if they are never treated properly, but left to figure it out chances are they will become infected, spread and do more damage. In preparation for my next artistic diplomatic voyage to Bosnia in a few short days, I watched a documentary Unfinished Business.The doc explored how Bosnia is recovering since its civil war that ended in what is almost a decade. Though there is some healing, there is still a lot of pain, and un forgiveness. There is a lot of confusion, people who live there arent sure as to how to identify themselves. There is a lot of unrest, and attempts to erase what happened years ago from its history. Sound familiar? Whether its genocide in Rwanda,ethnic cleansing in Bosnia, or Institutionalized racism that allows for the lives of Black men to be eradicated and disregarded at by hands of those elected to protect and serve- wrong is wrong. Until its recognized, it cant be reconciled, and without reconciliation whispers of revenge and the winds of revolt, sadly wait in the wings. May God help us. I believe the biggest sin at the beginning of time wasnt Mans act of disobedience but his attempt to deceitfully cover it up. God forgive us...
