Proactive Coonabarabran council have placed a motion in 2012 to not support Coal Seam Gas within the Warrumbungles Shire and now have made a progressive step to put solar on all council buildings. Cr Victor Schmidt proposed the solar panels motion as a way to generate revenue to help the increased offset electricity costs. The Shires General Manager, Steve Loane, says there are about 80 to 100 council-owned buildings that solar panels could be fitted to. He says the proposal received support from other councillors and the councils taking it seriously.
