Product of a Tuesday. I wasnt feeling well, so I worked from home Tuesday. Just as well that I did, as halfway though the day I found ants in the foster room, swarming the wet cat food. O.o. I quickly got a wet rag and got rid of all the ants I could see and garbage disposled the food, then bleached scrubbed 4/5ths of the room and got every last little particle of food out of there, including the bags of dry food. Then I put a line of petroleum jelly on the floor going to the rest of the house. Then I checked back every 15 minutes. Ants kept appearing and Id swipe them up every time but there was no trail showing where they came from. Then I started noticing ants on the inside of my barrier line... I kept making lines and checking back and I finally figured out they were coming from a crack at the very edge of door and baseboard behind the door. Very hard place to reach, but I kept up with the jelly until I had it layered an inch deep. Then I kept monitoring and getting every ant on its way back or elsewise. Also did *lots* of sweeps through the house to make sure they werent anywhere else. And vacuumed like heck through out the whole house, got all food up and away, put cat food bowls in water trays, and generally was nervous for hours. Put the foster in the patio room for the night so I could monitor the room better. It seems to have worked. Wednesday not a sign of them and I moved Misha and her stuff back in the room and nothing today either. I am giving a cautious sigh of relief, am grateful I wasnt feeling well on Tuesday (I cant even imagine what it would have been like if Id been gone the whole day), and Im going to go stock up on more petroleum jelly and pepper. The ants are fine outside... But not inside!
