Promise #4 – When you go through tough times, God promises: To lift you up… “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” –1 Peter 5:6-7 (NCV) Thought: God promises to lift us up, and to take upon Himself all of our anxieties. This word “anxiety” comes from the Greek word “merimna”. The word denotes distractions, anxieties, burdens, and worries. Merimna means to be anxious beforehand about daily life. Such worry is unnecessary, because the Father’s love provides for both our daily needs and our special needs. Gaze upon the cross, and you will see the amazing love of God. The penalty for our sin was death, yet Christ went beyond death. He suffered bearing our grief and sorrow. Why? He did not just come to atone for your sins…He came to bear all your anxieties. HE CAME TO GIVE YOU THE ABUNDANT LIFE! Prayer Focus: Ask God to help you trust Him more, even when it does not make sense. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you find rest in Jesus, and to be anxious for nothing, helping you know that God is in control of your life.
