Prostate cancer of the lungs! Could this really be possible? Metastatic cancer is the spread of the original cancer through the blood vessels to other parts of the body. It is simply cancer cells breaking away from the original cancer and forming new tumors. The good news is many break away cancer cells do not survive in the blood stream, some lie inactive for years while others never become active. Metastatic prostate cancer forming tumors in the lungs or the bones is not lung or bone cancer. It is in fact prostate cancer and the cancel cells have the same characteristics as the origin cancer in the prostate. Therefore it is possible to have Prostate cancer in your lungs.
