Proverbs 26:3-5, “A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the fools back. Don’t make a fool of yourself by answering a fool. But if you answer any fools, show how foolish they are, so they won’t feel smart.” We act like the fool when we are provoked by them to give an answer in anger, exaggerate the truth, accept a foolish challenge, or indulge in gossip. For we have allowed ourselves to become like them. Don’t lower yourself to the fool’s level by answering his silly questions or arguing with him as if he were a sensible man. To answer him according to his folly, will expose him, shame him, and maybe even bring him to a better way of thinking! Answer him with wisdom and show him how foolish he is. Don’t mirror folly – mirror Christ! Pastor Gary
