Psalm 23. He leads me in the Paths of Righteousness for His name sake. I have been thinking about this portion of the Psalm for a couple of days. I read where Oswald Chambers said If I try to be right, it is a sure sign I am wrong; the only way to be right is to stop trying to be and remaining steadfast in faith in Jesus Christ. He also says We have not only lost Christs idea of righteousness, but we laugh at the Bible idea of righteousness, our god is the conventional righteousness of the society to which we belong. How convicting is this! As I thought about this verse in light of Oswald Chambers commentary I saw something I had missed before...He leads me in the PathS, there is more than one path, of righteousness. My life has so many paths that I have gone down, and some I still will have to take. Some of these paths have been straight and easy. Some have seemed like paths going uphill that I have had to stumble over and over to get up and struggle to continue on. BUT if He leads me in the right path so that only His name is glorified, than I do not need to struggle, stumble or fall. Why do we chose the path that others take? Why do we chose the paths for OUR name sake? Christ (God) himself chose a path that led him to a cross to be crucified for us. May HIS name be Glorified and may I chose to follow HIM as HE leads the remaining days of my life down HIS Right path for HIS namesake.
