Pupils should be encouraged to progress at a rate which is - TopicsExpress

Pupils should be encouraged to progress at a rate which is appropriate for them. All pupils have different rates of learning, and different abilities for information retention. There are however, times when a pupil is reluctant to progress even though I and perhaps others feel they are quite capable of doing so. I encourage this by finding slightly more advanced music, which will be exciting for them to learn. This could be music which they have told me they are interested in learning, or music which they have perhaps enjoyed listening to. Each of my pupils has their own notebook in which I write notes about their progress on the material they are working on each time they have a lesson. This is so that they can use this during their practice time at home to help them improve. I use the back of this book to compile a glossary of terms and signs for the pupils to refer to when needed.
