QUESTION: How do you find places to live? Maybe you blogged about this before but I havent found it. Were looking to do Costa Rica for a few months out to wet our pallets with traveling with 5 kids but I cant seem to find resources for renting a home. Any help is appreciated. ANSWER: In reality, its easiest to find places to live when you are on the ground. However, we do try to find as much information out before hand, and sometimes were able to arrange something that way. Well do research online on sites like Craigslist, if available. Well also find Facebook groups of expats who are living in the area, and ask them questions about where to live, costs, etc. Asking people who are actually in country will be one of your best resources, plus they will have access to available rentals that you wont be able to find online. Its a tricky process, trying to find a place to have lined up before you get there, but realizing that youll find the best deals on the ground... if you are able to arrange something before hand, perhaps make it short term, so you can look around once you arrive before making a long term decision.
