Queer Ideas Salon For Immediate Release: The 2013 Queer Ideas Screenplay Development Series is now complete. Cue the celebration! That’s right, after rigorous refinement and graceful guidance these exceptional works will now receive keen public eyes. Queer Ideas presents the Queer Ideas Salon: January 29th, Wednesday Evening @ The Gladstone Hotel. Please join as we feature 6 select newly created cinematic works from Queer Ideas: read by some of the nation’s best actors, along with a party to celebrate the inaugural launch of this exciting initiative - now complete, real-deal prizes to be given away, the quietest silent-auction you’ve ever heard with the biggest, baddest and loudest items to be won. All that and…. A portion of the money raised throughout the evening will go to the Friends For Life Bike Rally. Wait! What is all this??? Cradled in the protective arms of Canada’s landmark Charter of Rights, Canadians have long grown accustomed to Queer culture, community and humanity as a growing part of our mosaic. In 76 countries, however, its a crime to be gay. In 10, it can cost you your life. The privileges and freedoms enjoyed by every Canadian exist in sharp contrast to the world outside of our borders, and sometimes only a short drive from our metropolis. With this in mind, the team at Queer Ideas challenged everyone with an original story chronicling the LGBT experience to submit their unique voice for inclusion, development and live reading, of new original stories furthering the culture of us all through the eyes of those interacting with the LGBT community. From the incredible and diverse submissions we received... Queer Ideas selected 8 exceptional LGBT-focused films, which received screenplay development from some of the top screenwriters, producers, showrunners and storytellers in the business… Including: Kevin Krikst (Rhombus Media), Robert Vaughn (Chesler Perllmutter Productions), Ryan Bruce Levey (The Closest Thing To Heaven), Suzanne Depoe (Westwood Creative Artists), Patricia Chica (Day Before Yesterday), Byron A. Martin (X-MEN), Salvatore Antonio (In Gabriels Kitchen), Robert De Lint (Verite Films).
