Question #1: The gifts of the Holy Spirit from 1 Cor 12:8-10: 1: Message of Wisdom. 2: Message of Knowledge. 3: Great Faith. 4: The Power to Heal. 5: Miraculous Powers. 6: Prophecy. 7: Distinguishing Between Spirits. 8: Speaking in Tongues. 9: Interpreting Tongues. So, why is it that numbers 8 and 9 seem to be the easiest and also seems to be the two that most people focus on? Is it that hard to speak when you feel that you have a message of Wisdom, knowledge, or prophecy? Is it that hard to believe that you have the ability to heal people or have miraculous powers? Im not quite sure what the writer means by Distinguishing between spirits. And is it that hard to have great faith? Question #2: Our pastor is teaching on the Holy Spirit and said something last Sunday that made me think. What if our pastors relied 100% on God for their message on Sunday? Meaning that the whole week they merely prayed and read the Bible, not taking down any sermon notes. Would the Holy Spirit give a message through the pastor? or someone in the church? Question #3: What would a church that had people displaying each of these gifts and relied on the Holy Spirit to give a message look like? Just something that Pastor Kentons message on Sunday made me think about.
