Quick update: Rich began moving his left arm ever so slightly Tues night. During last night, he began squeezing his left hand randomly (not to command.) This is big! Hes even able to open his right eye a tiny bit on command!!! They feel comfortable enough with the wake up part to begin the weaning trials from the vent today. Thats the breathe part. Thank you, God! On a side note, in spite of meds and compression, they found a blood clot in his left calf this morning. Its not surprising, since he has a blood condition that causes clotting. Theyre putting filters in his veins to stop the clot from reaching his heart. It shouldnt be a big deal. Hes had the filters before when hes had to be off blood thinners. Kristen is on her way back to school right now. Pray for safety for the trip (Thanks, Emily, Michelle, and Madison for the rides), and that shell be able to get some sleep (Go to bed, Kristen!) and focus on her classes. She is exhausted. We have strep going through our family, so pray for health. Im on antibiotics as a precaution. Ive never done that before, but I sure am right now. Please keep on praying for my fighter! Wake up and breathe already! :)
