RACE #5 BANNON 6 HANK’S HILL 3 ROYAL GREATNESS 5 RISING DOUGH 2 DIXIE TROOP BET ON JACK had to endure a difficult fanning incident on the point of the turn August 9th and that seemed to take away some momentum from him; he was finally sixth beaten two lengths against Hank’s Hill who is here. DIXIE TROOP committed to an all out speed rush at five furlongs July 27th and was tired late and gave up a couple of positions; that tactic had worked perfectly for him the time before at six furlongs; he is at six furlongs here. ROYAL GREATNESS made a gamble on the inside last time and promptly stalled as the favourite; he shortens to six furlongs here and had a good result at this distance two starts ago with a deep closing style. SOLO PLAYER was well handled by Chernetz to beat non winners of three August 4th for John Cardella; she made an outside move and rallied precisely. RISING DOUGH had quite a wide trip last time while moving in contention on the turn and he was finally fourth; getting down to this lower level gives him an opportunity to run a peak race. HANK’S HILL was preferred when he made his seasonal bow August 9th and surprising money showed for him; he was well prepared by Willie Armata and sliced his way between rivals and persisted under good handling from apprentice Webb. TURFISTE was prancing on the lead August 9th at 54-1 but grew weary very late along the inside and was displaced and finished fourth against Hank’s Hill. LOCALLY MADE was reserved early behind runners last time but didn’t make any significant progress in the stretch; he now departs from the rail and gets the widest post.
