RAF Cadets from Wymondham College have just spent a fun and adventurous week on Summer Camp at RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall. The camp is primarily aimed at giving the cadets an experience of life in the Royal Air Force and about each cadet trying new activities. The Contingent Commander at Wymondham College Combined Cadet Force, Squadron Leader Michael Edney said “Attendance at annual camp is the highlight of the year for all cadets and it exposes them to a taste of RAF life and a mix of adventurous activities. Theyre also some of the most enjoyable and memorable things a cadet will do, and are usually based around exciting activities where the cadet takes control of their new abilities and put them to the test.” At RAF St. Mawgan the cadets took part in various section visits around the station. They got to meet base personnel and took part in a number of exercises to increase their knowledge and boost their self-confidence and leadership activities. They also took part in sports, from soft ball on the beach to Go-Kart racing, shooting, quizzes, coasteering and surfing and many other social activities. The most senior cadet on camp Cadet Flight Sergeant Daniel Campbell 17, a veteran of many camps said “Another great week at camp and the standards set in drill, uniform and room inspections were very high, all the cadets had a fantastic time in Cornwall and are already looking forward to next year.
