RBBA hails R&B Mnister for sanctioning Rs 45 lakh for RN Bazar Jammu, July 27, 2013: Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association (RBBA) has thanked the R&B Minister Abdul Majid Wani for announcing advance of Rs 45 lakh for upgradation of the market road. Mr Wani who undertook round of the historical Raghunath Bazar today was accorded rousing welcome by the association and the minister had an interaction with the traders in the market about the problems being faced by them. The RBBA president Baldev Khullar informed the minister that due to frequent blacktopping of the road in the bazar,its level has risen to the level of footpath, as a result of which the rain water enters the shops. In the recent heavy rainfall, last week, the water has entered many shops drenching their merchandise and causing heavy loss to the shopkeepers. Mr Khullar asked the minister to instruct the department for the road to be blacktopped with MASTICASPHALT road surface, which can last for 15-20 years and also that the potholes and side drains be covered. He also demanded that rainwater pipes be laid on both sides to take away rain water from the road to the main drains. The minister on spot announced grant of Rs 45 lakh for the purpose and directed the chief engineer PWD, who was accompanying him, to undertake the work immediately and complete the same at the earliest. The representatives of RBBA also discussed with the minister about the project of beautification of the historical bazaar, the work on which is going on at a slow speed. Mr Khullar told him that under the project it is provided that Dholpuri stones of red and pink colour has to be laid down on both the pavements besides curved stones of red colour has to be laid simultaneously on pavement curves. He also demonstrated the specimens of the stones to be laid. The minister also assured the association that he will take up with the chief minister for sanction of balance amount of Rs 3.16 crore for early completion of the project of beautification of the Raghunath Bazar to make it a state of the art marketplace. The minister also directed chief engineer PDD to early complete the work on laying of underground cables, so that the R&B department can undertake the work of upgrading of footpaths in the bazaar. He also directed the director tourism to speed up the work on beautification project so that the same is completed during the year 2014. Besides Khullar, others who interacted with the mister included chairman of Jammu Heritage Society Om Prakash Mahajan (Kaakuji), ex RBBA president Bhubneshwar Gandotra, gen secy RBBA, Sanjay Sethi, Sr V-P Mohit Gupta, V-P M M Sharma, Secy Ashwani Kohli, treasurer Amit Kapur, Ajesh Rohgmaetra, Kuldeep Dogra, Anup Jain, Sunand Aggarwal and Sham Niwas Aggarwal.
