RE: What would you do? (post from the other day) I would like to thank everyone for their insight, there were many comments that made me carefully research some unknown variables. Many of you I talked with personally and thank you for taking the time to discuss this with me and showing support either way. Just want to say money wasnt the driving factor in the consideration of such employment but as we all know it does take money to enrich the quality of life to an extent. Happiness and the happiness a father can get from providing for his children has been in the human culture for many years. Being able to have the ability to provide that crayon or that piece of paper to your young artist or Popsicle sticks and glue or computer for your young engineer is what makes some parents happy. (As long as they use them..lol) Being able to provide the sewing machine and fabric to that young designer or the football and helmet to that young athlete enriches the lives of these young individuals to continue to become better. Somewhere along the lines there has to be a balance between material things and enriching the quality of emotional life. We as parents not only need to provide the basics, food, shelter, and emotional support. I have been a firm believer that taking both parents away from the family to provide the basics food and shelter has caused an increase of child behavior problems. Kids learn from parents, not TV, Video Games, or what they see or read on the computer. Parents are here to teach the difference between right and wrong and the difference between reality and fake, and in order to do so they need to be available for their children in times of growth. With all that said, and in the case of my situation it is in the best interests of my children that I continue my stance of being available to them 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. For that reason I have turned down the offer for the time being. There are only 9 more years before my youngest will face the world on her own and I need to provide a solid foundation for her and her sister to build upon.
