REALITY CHECK: In the end, it seems the status quo ante attitude prevalent in Hawaii worked against Kolin Elderts and in favor of Chris Deedy. People here seem to have blinders on especially about the racial dimensions of this case but then again this is an aspect of life in Hawaii-a certain denial about racism and the effects of racism on various ethnic groups in the Islands. Anywhere else people would be boiling mad and demanding justice. Here, people just shrug. I guess thats just the way things are here in the islands.
