RECENT GRADUATE: Tracy Haddad Testimonial: Your impression of the school? Judy is amazing! Denise is awesome also. The school is fabulous…If you decide to attend, you will love it. How was the program? The program is intense and very challenging. You will get out of it what you put into it. This is true of anything in life. How well do you feel like the program prepared you for real world? You will be very well prepared for "life after design school". It is a given that every company/firm may operate differently, having different procedures and policies. However, you will be well prepared for the design aspect! How well did Judy (other faculty) help in finding you at least interviews/job opportunities? I was lucky in that Judy referred me for a job while in the midst of my final project. I got the offer the day after I presented my final project. I had my first interview with the company while in the midst of completing my final project. And went back for the final interview the day after presenting it, receiving an offer that day. Did you find NOT learning AutoCad a detriment to finding a job/having a job? ABSOLUTELY NOT There are so many other options for the CAD. Scottsdale Community College offers a CAD course beginning in the fall you could take. I did consider it but now that I have been in the field, so to speak, I am looking at other programs that meet the needs of the job. Sketch Up is one that our in house architect has recommended. There is a free program but he tells me there is a version (cost is $500) that offers all I would need enabling you to import CAD elements into the program. I have been so busy, I have not had the time to explore this yet. Other employers may want or need you to have CAD. Mark Candelaria, a well known architect in the valley, also recommends Sketch Up and uses it. He also feels very strongly that you need to learn the "old fashion " drafting (by hand) in order to have a better understanding of the process and full scope of design/spacial perception.
