REPORT FROM FOOT SPECIALIST FOR MORTONS NEUROMA: I think I have very good news....and he did not tell me to quit dancing.....:-). In fact, his parents take ballroom dance and shag. Loved the doctor. He is a specialist in Sports medicine and orthopedics. The plan is to shrink the Mortons Neuroma on my right foot and get it to dissolve completely. Today, he put something on my foot that froze it and it was Soooooo Cold. Then he gave me a shot of Betamethasone right into the spot. I thought he was giving the shot in the bottom of my foot but he actually gave me the shot in the top of my foot. He said that my foot would feel heavy today and it did and that I would possibly have pain tomorrow. So far, no pain. I will go back in 3 weeks and he will evaluate whether I need another shot, I guess. He said no to surgery which was also my answer. Apparently, there are other methods and procedures now if you go to the right doctor. He did ask me not to dance for a week and when I asked about Saturday night, he kinda sorta....said it might be okay....but I dont think my daughters are going to let this coming week-end be my birthday bash because they want this horrible pain to go away in my foot. I want all of you to know that I was very strong....and not a wuss. I squeezed Peters hand as hard as I could but I did great. I actually could not see what he was doing but when he grabbed that needle, I sat right up and asked what he was going to do. I will take it easy for a couple of days....might even go out of town as Peter is leaving tomorrow to go to his beach house to pick up his mom who will be returning to PA Saturday. Before you have someone cut on your foot, get more than one opinion. I got opinions from many friends....some encouraging and some not. I read and did research. I knew in my own mind that I did not want scar tissue on the bottom of my foot and did not want a lot of down time. I cannot sit still that long. In my opinion, as of right now, I got the magic bullet I was wanting. And....Clifford, he thinks the dancing is great for me and that having a passion is the best way to grow older....not old....but older. :-) I
