REPORT SUNDAY 27TH JULY 2014 GREAT YARMOUTH SUPERSTOX GREAT YARMOUTH STADIUM SUPER SERIES ROUND 2 WORLD CHAMPION STEVEN JACKSON WINS SPEDEWORTHS NEWEST RACE THE SUPERSTOX DESTRUCTION DERBY! 11 drivers arrived at a dry Great Yarmouth stadium to race on a perfect race track condusive for fast racing. Heat One 11 cars 376 Steven Jackson 717 7 416 540 612 432 163 279 811. This race saw a good early battle for the lead between 279 Phil Proctor and 717 Terry Lawrence seeing the latter spin the Colchester man in taking a length of a straight lead. However closing fast was the World Champion 376 Steven Jackson who reeled in Terry with 3 laps to go en route to his 7th win in a successful season. Heat Two 10 cars 432 Michael Robinson 540 416 612 717 279 811 163. This race saw a big blow up for the ever consistent 7 Glenn Salmon entering the Caister bend which saw Glenn hit the fence at speed doing his car a lot of damage, Glenns engine also going in a big way. As a result of the fluid now on the race track 3 drivers took a visit to the Caister fence as well. These were 163 Thomas Naughton, 376 Steven Jackson and 416 Mark Smith, Jacko retiring from the restarted race with damage, the other 2 drivers making the restart. After years of trying 432 Michael Robinson finally took his first Superstox race win on an East Anglian race track. The Ipswich man having taken 2 previous race wins down at Aldershot where he had his last race win there on Sunday 6th April at Safari Challenge Series Round 3. Final ( Superstox Destruction Derby )! 9 Cars 376 Steven Jackson 612 Garry Sparkes 811 Graeme Parrott 540 Brett Wesbroom. Just 4 finishers. STATOID. HISTORY MADE IN THIS RACE WITH THE LEAST AMMOUNT OF FINISHERS IN A SUPERSTOX RACE IN ALL OF THEIR YEARS OF ILLUSTRIOUS RACING. Just 4 completing the distance. Well done to all of them! Coming through the carnage was the World Champion 376 Steven Jackson to do the heat and final double. Steven now has 8 race wins in which 5 of them are final wins. Onto the carnage. 163 Thomas Naughton and 279 Phil Proctor were battling for position when they locked bumpers ending with 279 Phil Proctor hitting the Caister bend fencing hard doing his car significant damage. Later in the race 416 Mark Smith got a puncture causing him to spin on pits bend. On the last lap 717 Terry Lawrence and 540 Brett Wesbroom were battling for places coming into the pits bend, the cars locking bumpers ending up with 717 Terry Lawrence hitting the home straight fencing hard, his car ending through the wires on impact. FOR 11 CARS WHAT A SHOW! If you liked what you saw there how do you fancy visiting Eastbourne on the 6th August for the next meeting for Superstox. Start time for that meeting that Wednesday evening is 730 pm. This is sadly the last time they will race there in 2014 at a track where you can see them at there best. And only the third meeting for them at this track this year! Please can we have more meets for them here in 2015. Back to the meeting on the 6th the Superstox will be racing for Safari Land rover challenge points in round 10 in that series. Be there to see them there for the last time in 2014.
