REVERENCE HIS HOLY NAME There is no greater negative personality factor than swearing lips; profanity and blasphemy, yet sadly you hear it nearly everywhere today. (Those of us who are Christians, please never say, OMG.) Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain. Exodus 20:7 I have often wondered if a person doesnt believe in the living Christ, why swear with His name if He doesnt exist. If there is no God, why blaspheme? I believe one reason is because if there is a God, then the best way to demote Him or bring Him down to their level is to profane His name. Lack of acknowledgment of the Divine forgoes any demands on their lives. We Christians shouldnt feel too smug because as I once heard a preacher say, when we dont live as we know we should, we are in a sense profaining Gods name. How tragic if we should give a misinterpretation of the character of God to the world. LETS NEVER FORGET You are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, your spirit, -- in everything-- which are Gods. 1 Corinthians 6:20
