RFSS Renaming Contest Coming Soon! The Richmond Food Security Society is going to change its name, and we need your help. Soon, we will be launching a re-naming contest to elicit suggestions from the public for a new, memorable name for our organization that will sum up the food security goals that we strive for. To help you brainstorm ideas, consider what our mission statement covers: That all people in the community, at all times, have access to nutritious, safe, personally acceptable and culturally appropriate foods, produced in ways that are environmentally sound and socially just. Now condense that into one or two words that convey the essence of it - easy, right? Well, you can see the challenge, and why we need all the suggestions we can get. Ideally, wed like to end up with a simple name that people immediately associate with food security. An example of something like this is Greenpeaces name, which people reflexively associate with environmental protection and advocacy. If we could end up with a name for RFSS that makes a simple, powerful connection to the issue of food security like Greenpeace does for the environmental movement, it would make our mission much easier. So start brainstorming! The contest will officially launch soon and will offer a prize of a $100 gift card to Nirvana Organics.
