RIYĀ’ AND HYPOCRICY Riyā’ is an internal and spiritual sickness, which only a very few people are safe from. However the Qur’an affirms that it’s a core character in the Munāfiqūn. To prevent one’s self from it, do whatever you do, to please Allah, whether or not your fellow human beings are pleased (do not intend to annoy them by doing it, though). The Munāfiqūn just can’t be free from it, because the Munāfiq is called with such a name (munāfiq) because he always has two opposite parties to please, any time he carries out a deed. May Allah protect us from riyā and strengthen our resilience in fighting our nafs. Amīn. Allahu Hafiz :)
